From the AWS Director of Membership Services

Dear AWS Friends,

We recognize the time and work to develop a successful chapter or grow the AWS, efforts that go uncompensated, done for the love of wine and people and commitment to the mission of the AWS.

For that reason the AWS will recognize the hard work of Chapter Chairs and Regional Vice Presidents by awarding Outstanding Chapter Chair and Outstanding RVP awards at the 2014 National Conference in Charlotte.

This will augment our existing Member Of The Year Award, a lifetime achievement award.
It is no overstatement to say to that without the work of these folks, the AWS wouldn’t be here and because of them and their work at the local level, AWS membership is growing and we continue to add new chapters at a rate of about one per month.

Nominations may come from any AWS member and will be accepted at the national office of through July 30. Nominations should include a written description of how the nominee meets the criteria below. Award recipients will be notified in August and they, or a designee, may receive the award at the national conference at the Awards Dinner.

The Outstanding Chapter Chairperson Award recognizes successful performance as a chapter chair and the ability to advance the mission of the AWS within and beyond their chapter including -- but not limited to -- the current calendar year.

The recipient will be selected by the AWS National Board and staff based upon, but not limited to, the following criteria:

• chapter membership growth

• innovation of programming and chapter operations

• support and interaction with other chapters and national office

• outreach and engagement in the community

The Outstanding Regional Vice President award recognizes accomplishments of RVP in growing the organization and fulfilling the mission of the AWS within, but not limited to, the current calendar year. The recipient will be selected by the board and staff based upon, but not limited to, the following characteristics.

• Participation in the development of new chapters

• Ability to assist existing chapters

• Ability to work collaboratively with the national office

• Outreach and engagement in the community

• Other extraordinary contributions to advance the AWS mission.
