Today's French Wines

Today’s French Wines

Nouveau Chic or Still Stuffy?

Explore today’s French Wines from four different regions of France while pondering the changes in packaging, flavor profiles and France’s new approach to the American market. The program will be presented by Ryta Mirisciotti.  Decide for yourself if you prefer France’s tried and true wine experience or their nouveau approach to gaining market share in the US!

We will taste wines from Loire, Corbieres, Bordeaux and Burgundy. We’ll explore the well-known regions as well as some lesser known areas (who, by the by, are the ones experimenting with more chic labeling, American palate profiles, and the like.)

Our tasting will be held on October 8, 2014 at the Evergreen Community Park, 3430 Evergreen Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 at 7:00 pm.  The cost for the event is $15 for members and $20 for guests.  Make your reservations now.  Please respond to:

Nominations

Nominations for Member of the Year

We have revived an honor that was given to the member who was the person that provided the most to our chapter.  The Member of the Year does not have to be a Board Member.  You may nominate any active member of the Chapter.

The votes will be tallied and we will make the announcement of the award at the first tasting in January of 2015.  If you have not made a nomination for Member of the Year, we ask that you take a few moments and do so.  The link below will take you directly to the survey.  This is a safe site, and does not collect any personal information from your computer.

Member of the Year Nomination

Nominations of Board Members for the 2015 Season

Please take a few moments to nominate those that you think might best serve our Chapter in the various board positions.  You may nominate more than one person for each position.  The vote will be held at the November tasting, and the newly elected members will begin their terms in January of 2015.

Just click on the link below to be directed to the nomination survey.  If the link doesn’t work, copy and paste it into your browser.  If more than one member in a household shares a computer, simply close the survey after the first person completes their nominations and then open the link again for additional household members.

What is The National Tasting Project?
The NTP is a wine education and tasting opportunity for AWS Chapters across the US.   Each year the NTP committee chooses a theme and selects several widely available wines that show different styles within the theme.  Chapters hold tastings to sample the wines and then see how their ratings compare to other AWS chapters.
