Tasting Notes: Pros vs. Joes


Pros vs. Joes Professional/Amateur Wine Tasting

Thank you to our award winning winemakers for not only serving us their delicious offerings, but also giving themselves stiff competition with their professional comparable. This evening's hosts were Tim and Brittany Altimus.

Up first was Terri 'The Breadman' Germanoski 

The Joe - Sauvignon Blanc 2014 vintage, $priceless. 
The Pro - Hayes Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2012, $12.99 (plcb# 000004512)

This was served with ruby grapefruit segments, ricotta, goat cheese, and edamame spread

The Joe - Frattoria Due Cane The Dogfather Rosato, $priceless
The Pro - Corbieres Domaine de Fontsatainte Gris de Gris $10.99 (plcb# 000037332)

This was served with Gruyere, Fontina, raspberries, lite salami, and capicola

Bringing up the rear, our cook-the-bookie, Dr. Dennis Trumble

Joe Wine - Trumble Cellars Red GSM (Granache, Syrah, Mouvedra) Blend
The Pro - Schild Estate GSM Red (90 pts!) $14.99 (plcb#38883)

This was served with smoked cheddar, goat's milk Gouda, Peppered salami, dried cherries, and dark chocolate

The winner of being the most incorrect at distinguishing the Pro from the Joe, our Program Chair, Bev Wise (Maybe we shouldn't mention this...)

The take home winner wine was Dr. Dennis Trumble's GSM Blend, a premium kit wine!
