Bereavement

AWS and friends;

I am deeply saddened to pass on  some sad news to you.  Perhaps the best way to say this is to include the message from Karen Wayner, past chair of Pittsburgh East, from her email.

“Curt Skerl passed away yesterday.  He was attending a wedding in Philadelphia with our good friend Jerry Knutson Friday of last week.  The ceremony went as planned, the drinks and appetizers were perfect.  As everyone was seated for dinner Curt fell over to the floor.  He had a massive heart attack and even thought there was a doctor right there who worked on him immediately he never regained consciousness.  He was taken to the hospital and at that time he was alive but barely.  They were concerned about oxygen deprivation among other things.  He was put into a medically induced coma for a day and when they decreased the drugs he never really came out of it.  He was breathing thru a ventilator.  Yesterday they determined that he was brain dead and stopped the ventilator.

What a shock.  Curt was 56 years old.  The last pictures of Curt taken minutes before his heart attack he was happy and toasting the bride and groom with a glass of good red wine. He had no warning.....

What I was reminded of with this terrible loss  - LIVE EVERY DAY TO THE FULLEST!!!!

Make today your best yet.....

Karen”
